In 2008 Rotoroa established the Rotoroa Island Trust Committee to restore the island and make it public to all people. Today it is a predator free Sanctuary for native wildlife in NZ.

The Old Weymouth Primary Building

The Old Weymouth Primary school Building is getting put up for sale. I think it shouldn’t get sold, here are my reasons why

  1. In 2023, it was bought for $840,000! That’s a lot of money. It was bought by Gabriel Elkishin. It’s our history, our memories,we want to keep it.  On May the 1st 2024 the house had a value of $1,650,000! The land value is worth $1,450,000 and increased by $200,000! That’s so much money!

2. We don’t want to sell history, we want to continue it. It’s 136 years old, and so many people have been to WPS. Even though we will get a lot of money if we sell it, I don’t want to. It’s like a Taonga, even though it’s old and rough,It’s history.

3.I don’t want to let random people sell the house online either. Barfoot and Thompson sounds like Barefoot and Thompson. And why would we want to sell it? So please Barfoot and Thompson, please don’t sell it .
